Ruth: Taking Refuge Under God's Wings

Every reader will appreciate the tragedy and triumph in Ruth's personal history. Against the backdrop of a sinful generation of God's people, Ruth's faithfulness and courage shines like a star in the night. Widowed early in the story, she appears to be faced with a difficult future. And yet she refuses to leave her mother-in-law Naomi. Ruth travels with her to a foreign land and a foreign people. A worthy man, and Naomi's relative, Boaz, is there unaware, as yet, of the fate of these two women. What will take place there? What significance does the humble history of this relatively unknown family have to King David and, later, to a heavenly king, Jesus Christ? What can modern readers learn from Ruth's story about generational faithfulness, male and female roles, and participation in a local church? Follow the storytelling power of the Holy Spirit and learn the answers to these questions and more. Bob Canode's work will teach you to see the gospel in types and shadows in the little Old Testament book. As you experience the rich contours of Ruth's history, you will be invited to follow in her footsteps and take refuge under the wings of God.
