Church Safety: Responding to Suspicious Behavior

This four-part suspicious behavior study guide educates church staff and volunteers on how to recognize and respond to suspicious activity in the open-door environment of the church. If a person is acting suspiciously in your church, do they need your help, or do they have harmful intentions? The study guide will walk you through key principles on how to answer this very question. The study guide is broken down into four sections. In session one you are taken on a journey through the principles of safety. Session two helps identify suspicious activity. Session three teaches the principles of surveillance that an assailant will use to blend into your open-door environment. And the final session instructs how to conduct conversational interviews to determine the intent behind the observed behavior. Many individual and group exercises are included for each section to help deepen your knowledge and a four-part video can accompany the study guide.
