Ron Chapman has been a Professor of history for the past twenty-three years. He is also a partner and President of Ron Chapman-Shipwright Inc. He has composed five books on various aspects of Louisiana History.
In 2016 he was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. That was later changed to Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis. In either case, the end result is progressive Pulmonary Fibrosis. By 2019 he was on oxygen support continually needing more oxygen. By 2022 it had become obvious that the only solution was a lung transplant.
This is his journey. After surgery while in ICU he composed this booklet as a guidebook for those facing transplantation. He not only tells his personal story, but additionally expounds on the challenges every transplant patient must face.
It is hoped that this short work will help others who must travel the same path. There is so much more to the process than medical procedures. He hopes this will be helpful.
