The thirty-second president of the United States, Franklin D. Roosevelt was an avid stamp collector. During his presidency, Roosevelt used his executive powers to involve in selecting 35 famous Americans for the special stamp series issued in 1940. It was a historic honor roll of renowned authors, poets, educators, composers, artists and inventors of America.
