As a poor Missouri girl, I had the opportunity to grow up living among healers. Later in my life I traveled to Central and South America into the Country of Belize and the Caribbean Islands of St. Vincent in the West Indies. There I lived and studied with Black Carib and Garifuna healers. Many of the remedies that I learned, comes from the teachings of farmers, producers, collectors, herbalists, healers and village women.

These very wise teachers understood that plants and foods can be used as medicine. This book is written for those who are interested in learning some of the wisdoms and remedies that I've learned, studying up closely with the Mayan's and the Garifuna's of Belize Central, the Black Carib's of St Vincent, among others.
