Description

ABOUT THE BOOK:

The Bhagavad Gita is arguably the most sublime spiritual discourse in existence, having issued forth from the lips of the Supreme Divine, when Arjuna, the warrior, faltered on the battlefield, torn between his duties and filial love. Lord Krishna went to extraordinary lengths to exhort him to pick up arms to protect righteousness or Dharma. Since then, the sacred scripture has served as a guide to humankind, a template that thoroughly addresses both the practical and spiritual aspects of life.
When the role of leadership in the Gita is evaluated today, the context becomes both relevant and timely. Scholars are still amazed by the applicability of its lessons and wisdom for the corporate sector and day-to-day life. Corporate tycoons like Ratan Tata and Mukesh Ambani single out the Gita for having been the greatest influence on their perspective, in the challenging role of leadership, without losing sight of the ethical compass, the key to the success or failure of businesses.
This book, The Bhagavad Gita in Life, enlivened with scores of real and symbolic examples, also sheds light on the process and techniques to cultivate peace of mind and protect oneself from the ravages of joys and sorrows, gain and loss, victory and defeat and modern-day ills like diabetes, hypertension, heart disease and depression.

ABOUT THE TRANSLATOR:

Described as a 'bold and unorthodox mind, ' Sudip Talukdar, bitten by the literary bug quite early in life, resolved to master the art of writing. He overcame many limitations on the way, driven by dogged determination and perseverance. However, converting ideas and experiences into words proved to be an extremely elusive quest, but with relentless practice, he acquired a modicum of control. Since then he has made steady progress both as a budding journalist and as a senior editor, highlighting critical and contemporary issues and doing his bit for the underdog.

Sudip Talukdar, who has done his M. Phil in English Literature, based his dissertation on the redoubtable Sherlock Holmes, the greatest sleuth of all time. He has written quite extensively on strategic, military, political and social matters, representing a corpus of more than 200 articles in the Indian Defence Review, The Salute, South Asia Monitor and cover stories for India Review and Analysis.

Post innings with the mainstream media, he has branched out as a novelist, strategic affairs columnist screen-writer and translator, besides editing books and writing reviews. The author had his share of bitter experiences, setbacks and adversities too, which helped impart a sharper edge to his literary endeavours, on a wider canvas.
