Imperfect Deception

A sequence of inexplicable events shatters the peaceful life of physics graduate student Nick Price by critically injuring his wife, Erin. Frustrated by the lack of progress in the official investigation, Nick becomes determined to identify the cause of these incidents himself. He enlists help from Marty, a friend and talented mathematician, and Jason, a co-worker in the quantum physics laboratory. Molly, a mysterious woman seemingly tormented by the unusual events and claiming to be an old friend of Nick's wife, approaches Nick with an offer to introduce him to her aunt, a retired university faculty member with expertise in unexplained phenomena.
Suggestions by Molly's aunt lead Nick's group to the creation of a possible space-time distortion and to the discovery of puzzling links to both quantum mechanics and Nordic witchcraft. An excited search for additional clues about the nature of the newly created anomaly launches Nick and Molly on a whirlwind international quest, immediately attracting the attention of malevolent forces hell-bent on stopping them. When astronomers from around the world identify a seemingly unrelated threat that endangers the entire planet, global panic ensues. During the chaos, Nick's team uncloaks an ancient secret that ties all the pieces together. To save humanity, the incongruous foursome will need to grow into a resolute team, face an apparently impossible challenge, and overcome intense opposition from enemies with near godlike powers.
