Original Sin

Sin did not begin in a garden.

Before ever a man drew breath, a third of the host of heaven kept not their first estate. A star set on high lifted up his heart and said, I will ascend; the Watchers came down upon Hermon and overleapt the bound of their own kind; and the very hours God had measured out were stolen away. Original Sin follows that first rebellion out of the courts of heaven and into the garden of Eden, and shows how one same lawlessness runs through them all - time, place, kind, and word, four bounds and four crossings.

Yet this is no record of ruin only. For what the first Adam lost, the second Adam came to restore; what was stolen is paid back with increase; and the high seats that a third of the host let fall are kept for the meek, who shall inherit the earth. Here is the whole account, from the first wrong done in the heavens of old to the healing of all things in Christ - the wound not only closed, but overpaid.

A companion volume to The Sacred Clock and Wandering Stars, Original Sin reckons the theft of time to its very day, holding throughout to the Authorized (King James) Version and to the holiness of the living God.
