Don't Die On Third: Advice For Daily Living

"DoDon't Die on Third: Advice for Daily Living is a warm, practical six-month devotional built around one unforgettable picture: a coach calling out to a young runner, "Don't die on third!" That simple warning becomes a life lesson-finish what you start, live with purpose, and cross home with your faith strong.

Dr. Dan R. Crawford gathers short, memorable pieces of wisdom from his family, students, pastors, missionaries, friends, and church members. Each insight is paired with a personal story or moment from his own journey. The result is 183 brief daily readings, arranged so you can walk through them twice a year.

Every entry begins with a snapshot-a parent's warning, a coach's sideline shout, a missionary's lesson learned the hard way, a grandmother's kitchen proverb-and ends with a simple invitation: "Advice applied today." It's a devotional that both speaks to you and asks something of you.

Across the pages, you'll find guidance on identity, prayer, integrity, finishing assignments, forgiveness, reputation, rest, humility, and paying attention to life. Some lines are playful ("Keep your mouth closed when painting the ceiling," "Pick the barber with the worst haircut"), yet each one points to deeper wisdom.

Special "Seven from Heaven" and "Eleven from Heaven" sections highlight key Scriptures from the Old and New Testaments, anchoring the stories in biblical truth.

If you need simple, memorable, practical wisdom for everyday discipleship, this book reads like sitting with a seasoned Christian mentor who wants one thing for you: Don't quit short of what Christ called you to do. Don't die on third.
